I can't say that I know, but I have found that my pictures fit better in some uses if I crop the picture myself rather than let the system do it for me. That way I can save more of the useful picture info. Sometimes formats squash the picture or crop it, anyhow that's what I do.
I usually use 5x7 or 4x6 on horizontal pictures but if a picture is in the vertical format I sometimes crop it as an 8x10 to get what I want/Dad
